On 18th May, 2024 a convention of BSNLCC was held at Bogda Telephone exchange, Kharagpur. It was a well organised meeting by the Regular, Pensioners and Casual Contract workers. Senior comrade Com. Susanta Ghosh, Vice-president, AIBDPA(CHQ) was present in the convention and he called upon the organisers to strengthen our organisation so that we are able to fight against any odds. Com. Asis Das Circle Secretary, AIBDPA, WB Circle was the main speaker and gave a valuable speech on the current situation and the role of the working class in the parliamentary election of our country. He narrated the formation of BSNL and the role of all the Govt. for its development. He stated about the onslaught of the BJP led Modi Govt. on the employees, pensioners and also the casual contract workers of BSNL. He expressed his dissatisfaction that the govt. is still refusing to provide the best equipment for 4G service when other operators are going to provide 5G service with the best equipment in the world. He said that this Govt is trying to sell out the PSUs of our country in the name of NMP. He called upon the workers to fight it out and establish a Govt. in the centre who are workers friendly. At the outset, Com Arindam Mazumdar, District Secretary, BSNLEU narrated the call of BSNLCC for organising this type of Dist. level Convention throughout the state. Com. D. Khan, Com. Aniruddha Majumdar Com. Anupam Saha were the other leaders who had also explained the attack of central Govt on BSNL. The issue of 4G/5G, 3rd PRC, Pension Revision, 7CPC Wages for the casual labour’s, Minimum wages and social securities for the contract workers also came in the deliberation of the leaders. This convention Calls upon the workers to play a vital role to strengthen the workers & peasant representatives in the parliament.
